Difference Between PowerStore X and PowerStore T

PowerStore has two models or versions, the “X” and the “T”. The main difference between the two is the ability to run virtual machines on the PowerStore X. Great for remote sites or edge deployments. The only other notable difference is the NAS functionality will only be available on PowerStore T for the initial product release, however we anticipate the functionality will soon be available on both models.

Encryption

PowerStore offers multiple different encryption options and reports encryption status at the following levels:

  1. Cluster Level
  2. Appliance Level
  3. Drive Level

Data at Rest Encryption (D@RE) is an option and is set at the factory. D@RE in PowerStore utilizes FIPS 140-2 with validated Self-Encrypting Drives. Also worth noting is the SupportAssist technology used to monitor array health leverages AES-256 bit encryption for secure data transfer.

Anytime Upgrade

When you decide to invest in the next gen storage infrastructure make sure you select ProSupport Plus as your support option, as that will enable you to take advantage of Anytime Upgrades. The Anytime upgrade program is the ultimate investment protection program as technology is quickly evolving and changing. Anytime Upgrades also provides you with the ultimate in choice and predictability effectively ending the traditional cycle of disruptive storage platform migrations.

The upgrades can be executed as soon as 180 days after the initial deployment and anytime after that within your service contract as opposed to waiting 3-5 years.
